3. Ginger- Cayenne Paste
Ginger is a famous anti-pain property. It contains gingerol which is anti-nausea, anti-inflammatory and anti-carcinogenic. Gingerol works the same way as capasaicin; it acts on vanilloid receptors located on sensory nerve endings. Researchers found that ginger affects the pain pathways directly but also relieves the inflammation that causes the pain. Cayenne works pretty much the same way as ginger. It acts as a counter-irritant to decrease deeper tooth pain and increases local blood flow. Individually, both ginger and cayenne can help relieve toothache. Together, they make a very good home remedy for toothaches. Mix both in equal parts with enough water to make a paste. Roll a small ball of cotton on the paste enough to saturate it then place on the aching tooth while avoiding the tongue and the gums. Leave it until the pain fades or as long as you can stand the burn it can cause.
