3) Precious Metals
Did you know that the US Mint still makes coins out of gold, silver, and even platinum? Past and present coins are made from these precious metals, changing their value up as the market fluctuates. A few notable examples of US coins made from precious metals are:
• American Platinum, Gold, and Silver Eagles: US Mint’s current official bullion.
• Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle: Made from 1907 – 1933; 90% gold.
• America the Beautiful (ATB) Silver Bullion Coins: Made of 5 ounces of silver.
• Indian Head Gold Pieces: 90% gold.
While the chances are low of you accidentally stumbling upon a Saint-Gaudens, you may have some “junk” silver floating around.
