Your body constantly runs at a normal temperature around 98.6 F, which is standard. This temperature can vary throughout the day and if you are starting to feel ill, you may run a higher temperature than this normal value, which is called a fever. A fever is your body’s reaction to an infection and it automatically increases its temperature to try and kill off the infection. Depending on the illness, your temperature may vary. Bacterial pneumonia tends to have fevers run a bit high, usually around 105 F. This can be quite frightful when you take your temperature and if you notice that your body temperature reaches this level, then you will want to consider seeing your doctor.
